Netavis Observer is the future-proof video platform to efficiently protect residents, visitors and public areas of Budapest’s most flourishing district Elisabeth town.

CHALLENGE

Elizabethtown, the 7th district of Budapest, was the city’s historic quarter before suffering from a mix of neglect and poverty for various years. Then, especially after the opening of the so called „ruin pubs“ in the last couple of years, the area has experienced a big boost and is now Budapest’s most populated district, famous for its full streets and bustling nightlife.

This sudden revitalization of the district also brought problems with itself, the existing analogue video surveillance couldn’t meet these demands anymore. A robust, high-performing, and easily scalable system is needed, allowing the local police to quickly detect car break-ins or thefts, burglaries and acts of vandalism day and night, ensuring the residents’ and visitors’ safety and protecting the newly renovated public spaces.

SOLUTION

After a short test phase, the city administration decided on an installation with Netavis Observer, the reliable IP based platform for video management. The software convinces with high compliance, best in class performance and unlimited scalability as well as unrivaled adaptability to customer requirements.

Currently 92 cameras on only two servers secure playgrounds, streets and public spaces. Netavis Observer governs the entire installation. Via the video wall, with 16 monitors á 42” , police officers observe the district 24/7, the streams are automatically recorded. For improved storage efficiency the Archive Efficiency feature automatically deletes recordings without events after 8 days, while event triggered recordings remain saved. In cases of car accidents, vandalism or crime the high-resolution video material serves as means of evidence thanks to the manipulation-safe Netavis Safe Export format.

BENEFIT

Easy to use Netavis Observer allows the district’s police to efficiently improve public safety. The traffic department, patrollers and other authorities now effectively work together. For example, the Layout Navigation feature enables the operators to quickly pinpoint any kind of disturbance to its exact location in the city, foot patrols are then able to react immediately. Due to the high compliance of Netavis Observer, existing analogue cameras are integrated in the system, thus hardware
investments reduced. The city administration plans to extend the video surveillance step by step, benefiting from the high flexibility and scalability of this solution. Additional hardware components like cameras, servers or storage can be deployed at any time, and also additional modules like Netavis  CarReader number plate recognition or iCAT video analytics are easily activated only by a change of the Netavis license key.
