Netavis solves with its platform for security and business the video surveillance issues at public places in Vienna and supports the municipality to improve its busi-ness processes with the Netavis Video Analysis and Data Warehouse technology.

CHALLENGE

Over the years security management of public places has been gaining more im-portance. Therefore, the City of Vienna is using a comprehensive video surveillance system especially at crucial points. A highly flexible solution is required for the different areas of application. For example, the highest priority at town spas is protecting the privacy of the bathers, while other areas require the improvement of additional business processes. Moreover, there are very high demands of the availability and security of the system. The solution has to be easily scalable in order to include additional sites or buildings at any time, and the functionality has to be easily extendable.

SOLUTION

Since 2010, Netavis Observer has been regulating the video surveillance system with approximately 260 cameras at the town hall, the city treasury, town spas, the Floridsdorfer Bridge and at public waste disposal sites in a central installation. MA01 is the department for electronic data processing as well as for information and communication technology, acting as a service provider for all city departments.

At the public waste disposal site in Auhof iCAT Video Analysis measures visitor frequency and categorizes the results into trucks, cars and pedestrians. sMart Data Warehouse processes this data and illustrates this information on the dashboard through data analysis and into PDF reports. iCAT and sMart are centrally integrated to the data center.

At the town spa, Laaerbergbad, Netavis Observer helps to prevent burglary and vandalism, while protecting the privacy of the bathers by deactivating the alarm automatically to cover the camera images of the bathers with a privacy mask. Even at major events such as the New Year Eve‘s Trail or the Beach Volleyball World Cup, the Netavis platform ensures security and a smooth flow of operations though its IP video surveillance, visitor frequency measurement and control of streams of visitors.

BENEFIT

The Netavis Retail Dashboard was individually customized to meet the specific requirements of WIEN MITTE The Mall. The customer is provided with intuitive charts as weekly, monthly and annual reports in PDF format per e-mail. The easily comprehensible graphic presentation of the footfall statistics allows for profound knowledge and understanding of the shopping center’s customer potential.
The raw data is of course available on the server for export or for further detailed analysis at any time. The video streams themselves are of no interest in this project. Due to the flexible architecture of the Netavis Observer video management platform, the installation is easily scalable. Further cameras, additional video analytics modules and also the Netavis Retail Dashboard can be expanded step by step in this future proof shopping mall solution.
